Yoshiharu Tsuge passed away on March 3rd at a hospital in Tokyo due to aspiration pneumonia. He was 88 years old.

This information was announced on the official X (@chikumashobo) of Chikuma Shobo, which published "Tsuge Yoshiharu Collection" and other books. The Chikuma Shobo post includes condolences from the company as well as a message from the bereaved family. According to the family, Tsuge had been in poor health since around September 2025. Regarding Tsuge, the bereaved family said, ``Although my father did not like to appear in public and lived a quiet life, he was also a family-oriented person who sat around the dinner table with his family every day at home.'' He also praised his achievements, saying, ``I think he was a rare manga artist who was able to draw in a wide range of genres, from surrealism to realism, and stories about dreams and travel.'' He also thanked his fans, saying, ``If you continue to read my father's works, it will be the best memorial service for him.''

Tsuge was born on October 31, 1937 in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo. After graduating from elementary school, he worked at a plating factory and made his debut as a manga artist in 1954. He was active in Monthly Manga Garo (Seirindo) from the late 1960s to 1970, and his representative works include ``Screw Type'' and ``Innocent Person.'' In 2020, he received a special honor at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.
