The release date of the movie Chiikawa The Secret of Mermaid Island, based on Nagano's original work, has been set for July 24th. A special report using the main footage has been released.

``Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island'' is a film adaptation of one of the original's most feature-length episodes, commonly known as the ``Siren Edition.'' Many trials await Chiikawa and his friends as they head to the island training camp following a suspicious flyer. Produced by Cygames Pictures, directed by Kei Oikawa. Haruka Aoki, Masato Tanaka, and Ari Ozawa will play the roles of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi, respectively, just like in the TV anime.
The 30-second special report also features Chikawa and his friends boarding a boat and heading to the island training camp. The familiar song "Hitorigotsu" is played in an orchestral arrangement, and the video gives a sense of the beginning of an epic journey. The scene cuts released at the same time include a back shot of Chiikawa and Hachiware looking excited after boarding the ship, Usagi lying on a tree stump, and a dignified Ichikawa and Hachiware just before heading out on an adventure with their beloved Sasumata.
