Demon Slayer Movie Sets New Benchmarks at the Domestic Box Office
The anime world is buzzing because Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugenjou Chapter 1: The Return of Myoza has officially crossed a massive milestone. Based on the legendary work by Koyoharu Gotoge, this film has managed to attract a staggering 27.34 million viewers within Japan alone. What is even more impressive is that it has exceeded 40 billion yen in total box office revenue. This achievement makes it only the second Japanese film in history to reach such a height, right after its predecessor, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train. It’s quite clear that why Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a must watch is no longer a question for the millions of fans who thronged the theatres.

A Fast-Paced Run to the Top
The movie, also referred to as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle Chapter 1: Return of Aquarium, first hit the big screens on July 18th last year. Its theatrical run is finally set to conclude on April 9th. To put things in perspective, reaching that 40 billion yen mark took only 254 days of release, up until March 29th. The speed at which it collected money is honestly mind-blowing for any industry expert:
- The 10 Billion Mark: Achieved in just 8 days after release.
- The 20 Billion Mark: Crossed within 23 days of its theatrical run.
- The 30 Billion Mark: Smashed in 46 days since it first premiered.
This level of consistent growth shows that the why Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a must watch factor is very much real for the general public, not just hardcore Otakus. The film series is proving to be a gold mine for the producers and a treat for the audience.
The Beginning of a Grand Finale
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugenjou Chapter 1: The Rebirth of Myokuza is actually the first part of a planned trilogy. This trilogy is set to cover the most intense part of the story—the final battle where the Demon Slayer Corps takes on the strongest demons. This includes the ultimate showdown with Muzan Kibutsuji, who has been the sworn enemy of our hero, Tanjiro Kamado, from the very start. Since this is just "Chapter 1," fans are already eagerly waiting for "Chapter 2" and "Chapter 3" which are currently in the planning stages for future release.
