Gundam's New Absolute Impact Series Reveals First Look With the Strike Freedom
Mobile Suit Gundam fans and collectors have a brand-new figure line to look forward to, courtesy of Bandai Spirits' Tamashii Nations. The Absolute Impact figure line is set to introduce a myriad of incredibly detailed, highly articulated, pre-painted Gundam models, including the Strike Freedom Gundam, which headlines the entire Absolute Impact figure series.
The Absolute Impact line of figures is expected to roll out with models standing approximately 18 centimeters tall. Although fans have yet to see what models the line will include beyond the Strike Freedom Gundam, it is all but assured that Absolute Impact's offerings will be expanding almost as soon as the upcoming figure series arrives in stores later this month.
The Inspiration Behind the New Arc
The Strike Freedom Gundam, or the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam, was introduced in the 2005 series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, and is by far one of the most recognizable Gundams of its era. Piloted by Kira Yamato, the Strike Freedom Gundam is just one of several of the same basic model that Yamato leads into battle throughout Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, SEED Destiny, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom.

While fans of the Gundam franchise are currently awaiting multiple titles, the story of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is slated to continue on with a prequel film titled Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom Zero. The prequel was revealed during the Gundam Conference held in May, with fans getting their first glimpse at the next animated feature film courtesy of a brief teaser trailer.
However, perhaps the most surprising upcoming Gundam title is the recently announced live-action film adaptation from Netflix. The feature reportedly began filming in Australia in April, with much of production taking place in Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast, as well as Brisbane and Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
