Introduction
Few dark-action manga have grown as fast as Kagurabachi. Takeru Hokazono’s revenge story about a boy, a sword and a stolen legacy has gone from a new Weekly Shonen Jump series to one of the most talked-about anime adaptations of 2027. This guide covers the story, the main characters, the production team, the release date and where to watch.
What Is Kagurabachi?
Kagurabachi is written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono. It has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since September 2023. In 2024 it won the 10th Next Manga Award in the print category. Its sharp visual style, fast duels and emotional core have earned it comparisons to the biggest shonen hits.
Kagurabachi Story

The story follows Chihiro Rokuhira, the son of Kunishige Rokuhira, a master swordsmith. Kunishige forged enchanted blades, each carrying its own power. When a sorcerer group known as Hishiryu murders him and steals his creations, Chihiro’s life collapses.

Chihiro survives with one thing left from his father: a katana called Enten. He sets out to hunt down the thieves, recover every stolen blade and take revenge. The plot is driven by revenge, grief and legacy, and the swords, the magic and the people who want to control them shape the world around him. The tone is darker and more personal than a typical shonen adventure.
Main Characters

Chihiro Rokuhira. The protagonist is a young swordsman fuelled by loss. He is calm on the surface but dangerous in battle. His bond with Enten is the heart of the series.
