Unraveling Tensura's Celestial Tapestry: Gods, Dragons & Primordial Devils Family Tree Explained
The world of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, affectionately known as Tensura, is a universe teeming with gods, dragons, demons, and countless other powerful entities. But beneath the surface of its captivating battles and political intrigue lies an incredibly complex and ancient history, a cosmic family tree that dictates the very fabric of existence. Today, we're diving deep to chart the origins of these formidable beings, from the primordial creator to the ancestors of all life.
Understanding Tensura's cosmology requires a journey to the very beginning, a place of infinite emptiness, and the emergence of the first true existence.
The Genesis: Veldanava, Ivarage, and the True Dragons
Our story begins with the origin of everything known as the Star King Dragon, Veldanava. Veldanava, the creator god and the first true dragon, existed before virtually everything else. In the beginning, there was only a vast empty existence known as the 'world of death,' a place without beginning or end. After an unknown amount of time, this singular creator god eventually split into two opposing existences: one that craved change and one that opposed change. These two beings became Veldanava and Ivarage.

Ivarage became a destroyer because he resisted change, believing anything that changed needed to be destroyed to return to its previous state. Veldanava, who craved change, was struck with an immense loneliness. This loneliness pushed him toward creation. Using his immense power, he created the central world and countless other worlds beyond it. During this profound process, the powerful True Dragons were created.
- Velzard, the White Ice Dragon: She possesses a calm and composed nature like ice, with unimaginable control over ice and cold. Her power is so overwhelming that entire regions can be frozen by her presence alone.
- Velgrynd, the Scorch Dragon: Where Velzard represents ice, Velgrynd represents blazing heat and destructive energy.
- Veldora, the Storm Dragon: The youngest of the original siblings, Veldora is perhaps the most famous. For centuries, he was known as a chaotic force of nature whose immense power brought fear across the world. After being sealed away in the Cave of Sealed Monsters, his fate changed forever when he encountered Rimuru Tempest, forming one of the most important friendships in the series.
Veldanava's Family and Legacy: Milim, Gaia, and the Angels

After humankind came to be, they began to evolve and build kingdoms, a phenomenon that fascinated Veldanava. One such kingdom was Nasca. At some point, Veldanava encountered the kingdom's crowned prince, Rudra. Seeing great potential in him, Veldanava personally trained Rudra and eventually granted him the powerful skill, Michael. Rudra's dream was to unite the world, and Veldanava believed he could achieve it. Through Rudra, Veldanava met Lucia, Rudra's sister.
Eventually, Veldanava and Lucia fell in love, married, and started a family. Together they had a daughter they named Milim Nava. Milim would later become one of the most powerful Demon Lords in existence. But she wasn't the only child connected to Veldanava. Using the last remnants of his remaining power, Veldanava created Gaia, a baby dragon intended to accompany Milim so she would never suffer the immense loneliness he once experienced.

These angels became administrators of the world and helped enforce the laws governing existence itself.
The Seven Angels of Origin: Administrators of Existence
Feldway is the first of the Seven Angels of Origin created by Veldanava, a Seraph-class angel who later became a Phantom and leader of the Army of Justice. Under Feldway, the angels are divided into two primary factions:
- The Mystic Admirals: This faction consisted of three members:
- Zalario: The captain of the Mystic Admirals, initially an authoritarian ruler who was eventually corrupted and reborn as a Phantom.
- Crona: Another of the Seven Angels, assigned to Feldway as a commander. Originally a pure Seraph, he was corrupted into a Phantom due to magical exposure and Ivarage's influence.
- Obera: Also a member of the Seven Angels and part of the Mystic Admirals, she too was corrupted in the underworld.
- The Fallen Angels:
- Dino: One of the Seven Angels created by Veldanava, once his sword and greatest swordsman. Currently, Dino is a Demon Lord. Angels are not typically able to become Demon Lords, but because Dino became 'fallen,' he was able to achieve this transformation.
- Garasha: Originally serving as a divine agent before the fall of the Ancients, she now works under Dino. She is a catastrophic-class swordswoman operating within the Heavenly Star Palace.
- Pico: Like Garasha, Pico began serving under Dino as his subordinate. She is a catastrophic-class Lancer, also residing in the Heavenly Star Palace.
The Seven Primordial Demons: Counterparts to the Angels

To create balance, and after the Seven Angels of Origin were born, the Seven Primordial Demons also came to be in Hell. The Primordial Demons are the oldest demon beings, born from the Great Holy Spirit of Darkness as counterparts to the Angels of Origin. Each rules a color-coded identity, and currently, most of them serve either Guy Crimson or Rimuru Tempest.
- Guy Crimson (Primordial Red): The oldest of the Seven Primordials and the first true Demon Lord. Guy became the ruler of the Demon Realm and later became a mediator among Demon Lords. He resides in the Ice Continent.
- Misery (Primordial Green): A subordinate of Guy Crimson. Originally an Arch-Demon who challenged Guy and was defeated, she was later revived and chose to serve him loyally. She is now a catastrophic-class maid in the Ice Continent.
- Rain (Primordial Blue): Also a subordinate of Guy Crimson. She challenged Guy alongside Misery, was defeated, revived, and pledged eternal loyalty to him.
- Diablo (Primordial Black/Noir): One of the oldest Primordial Demons, who later becomes Rimuru Tempest's most loyal servant. Originally a mysterious demon fascinated by the truth behind Shizue's mask, he was summoned by Rimuru and named. He now leads the Black Numbers and serves as Rimuru's most trusted and powerful subordinate in Tempest.
- Testarossa (Primordial White): Also known as Blank, she is one of the Primordial Demons. Born at the dawn of creation, she ruled Hell before being summoned into the material world, eventually joining Rimuru's service.
- Ultima (Primordial Violet): Another of the Primordial Demons and a catastrophic-class Demon Lord. She once ruled Hell alongside the other Primordials before being summoned to Tempest and joining Rimuru's ranks.
- Carrera (Primordial Yellow): Born at the dawn of creation, she once ruled Hell before joining Rimuru after being recruited by Diablo. She is known as the Menace Lord and serves as chief justice officer of Tempest and one of the 12 Guardian Lords.
Twilight Valentine and the Ancestors of Life

Finally, to fill the world with immortal beings, Veldanava created Twilight Valentine, often called the primordial god. Twilight became one of the most important figures in Veldanava's creation. Through Twilight's work, intelligent life eventually emerged.
Through experiments on his own body, Twilight created the High Humans and the Vampires. The High Humans possessed incredible intelligence and magical potential, but their arrogance and self-destructive nature made them a failure. Next came the Vampires. They possessed the immortality Veldanava desired, but their dependence on blood and weakness to sunlight prevented them from becoming the ideal race.
Humans fascinated Veldanava more than any other race. Unlike most beings, they possessed free will. They could make unpredictable choices and create futures even Veldanava could not fully predict. Through Twilight's experiments, the original ancestors of all living beings came to exist, known as the 'Pupils of the Ancestor.'
- Luminous Valentine: One of the first beings to be, Luminous Twilight Valentine is a High Blood Vampire and the true ruler of the Holy Empire of Lubelius. She later rose as the fifth seat of the Octagram and now governs Lubelius from the shadows.
- Jahil: Among the earliest humans, a High Human born from Twilight's design whose ambition led him to orchestrate world-shaking tragedies.
- Silvia: A High Elf and the ancestor of all elves. She is also the mother of Ilmesia and now governs the Sorcerer Dynasty of Sarion.
- Ashley: A fire elemental who became the Oni ancestor. He, together with Pippin and Prelix, are part of the Trinity Wisemen.
- Goran Dwargo: The Dwarf ancestor and the first king of Dwargo.
- Basara and Kisara: The Titans ancestors.
