Volume 1 of Rokitoke's ``Guardian of the Etrian Odyssey ~Building a prosperous nation in the corner of another world~'', originally written by Yuki Enaga, was released by SB Creative today, April 15th. This is a comic adaptation of Enaga's light novel, and is currently being distributed in advance on Piccoma.
The main character is Ridil, the sixth prince who is unable to use magic, although he was born into a royal family that has inherited magical abilities from generation to generation. Appointed as the lord of a remote area, he sees the down-to-earth lives of the residents and ends up feeling self-loathing, thinking he can't do anything. One night, Ridil sees a faintly glowing tree on a distant mountain and decides to go there the next day. Then, the glowing World Tree tells him that he has been certified as the "Guardian of the World Tree." The story depicts Ridil's slow life in managing his territory.
To commemorate the release of the book, some bookstores will be giving out purchase benefits. Gamers has a bromide, Melonbooks has an illustrated card, and WonderGOO has an illustrated postcard.
