New Cast Details and Key Visual Revealed for Yanineko Anime

The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Yanineko, which is based on the popular original work by Nyan Nyan Factory, has finally received some major updates. Fans who have been waiting for news can now mark their calendars as the series is officially set to begin broadcasting on TOKYO MX and BS11 starting July 2nd. Along with this release date, the production team has also dropped the second round of cast information and a brand-new key visual that gives us a proper look at the show's vibe.

Six new cast members have been confirmed to join the project, adding a lot of talent to the lineup. Misato Matsuoka will be voicing Yakuneko, a junior character who looks up to Yanineko as her senior. Yurie Funato is taking on the role of Hameneko, who is Yakuneko's classmate from high school. We also have Ayaka Shimizu playing Kansaineko, a college student who loves her drinks and speaks in a distinct Kansai dialect. Shiori Izawa will play Alneko, a beastman who always seems to be in a bit of a fix. Rounding out the group, Riko Akechi voices Tatsuro Ochinpo, the only human manga artist living in the same building as Yanineko, while Toru Inada plays the landlord of the apartment complex. These quirky characters are a big reason why Yanineko is a must read and watch for fans of comedy.

Character Individuality in the Back Alley Visual

The latest key visual is quite atmospheric, showing Yani Neko, Yaku Neko, Hameneko, Kansai Neko, Al Neko, and Ochinpo Tatsuro gathered in a back alley. It really manages to capture a tiny glimpse into each character’s personality and their daily life in this strange world. Yani Neko herself is the star of the show—a "scum beast" who is a heavy smoker, living a life that is as messy as it is funny. The series is a comedy set in a unique world where humans and beasts live together, and it's these relatable yet exaggerated struggles that explain why Yanineko is a must read for anyone who enjoys dark humor.
