Volume 1 of Takashi Murakami's ``Concrete Ship'' was released today, February 27th.

In the early Showa era, the up-and-coming Takeda Corporation had become competitive with large corporations in public works bidding, and was led by its president, Sojiro Takeda, who was full of vitality. He travels not only to Japan but also to Germany and America in search of work, and as World War II approaches, he plans to take on military work to protect the lives of his employees. After much struggle, he landed a job building "concrete ships." Based on historical facts, we trace the strange fate of the people who took on the challenge of building a concrete ship and actually built it. The work is currently being serialized in Big Comic Original (Shogakukan).
