Exciting Updates for the Live-Action Movie "Yamaguchi-kun wa Badu Nai"
The makers have finally dropped the preview video, main visual, and theme song details for the upcoming live-action film Yamaguchi-kun wa Badu Nai. Based on the popular original work by Yu Saiki, this announcement also brings us fresh information about the supporting cast who will be joining the main stars on screen. Fans have been waiting for a glimpse of how this story translates to film, and the latest materials definitely don't disappoint.

A Youthful Love Story Set to Premiere this June
Mark your calendars for June 5th, because that is when Yamaguchi-kun wa Badu Nai is hitting the theatres. The story revolves around Satoshi Shinohara, a very normal high school girl who is just looking for some sweet romance, and Yamaguchi-kun, a transfer student who looks quite scary and speaks in a thick Kansai dialect. Initially, there are rumours going around that he might even be a yakuza! However, once Satoshi starts seeing the real person behind that tough exterior, she can't help but feel attracted to him. This unique dynamic is a big reason why this heartwarming romance is a must-read and must-watch phenomenon for fans of the genre.
The casting looks spot on with Kyohei Takahashi from the idol group Naniwa Danshi taking on the role of Yamaguchi-kun. Joining him is Hikaru Takahashi as our heroine Satoshi, and Hiroshi Iwase will be playing Ishizaki, a good-looking boy who seems to have some very specific feelings for Yamaguchi-kun, adding a bit of tension to the mix.
Intense Drama and a Love Triangle Revealed in the Trailer
The new 60-second preview gives us a good look at how Satoshi and Yamaguchi-kun's relationship starts to move forward quite suddenly. But of course, it’s not all smooth sailing. The handsome Ishizaki ends up standing right between them, creating a love triangle that is full of little misunderstandings. In the main visual, you can see Yamaguchi-kun giving a very sharp glare while Satoshi looks at him with pure, honest eyes. Meanwhile, Ishizaki is shown following them from behind with an expression that definitely suggests there is more to his character than meets the eye.
The theme song for the movie is titled "Be My Baby," and it is performed by Naniwa Danshi. Interestingly, the song is sung in the Kansai dialect to match the film's vibe. Takahashi mentioned that the lyrics are quite special, with phrases like "Honma Kana Wanwa" being used. He even joked that he was expecting some "exciting lines" in the lyrics since it's for a romantic movie, and well, the song delivered! You can catch a bit of it in the trailer itself.
