Analysis: Black Cat and Witch's Classroom TV Anime Set for Two Consecutive Seasons
The upcoming TV anime Black Cat and Witch's Classroom, which is based on the original work by Yosuke Kaneda, has finally shared some massive updates that fans have been waiting for. It has been confirmed that the series will be broadcast in two consecutive seasons, starting from April 12th. You can catch it on the CBC/TBS 28 network during the "Agal Anime" slot and other local channels. Along with this announcement, the team also dropped the second main PV and some fresh details about the cast members joining the series.

The 2nd main PV gives us a solid glimpse into the story. In the first half, we get to see Spica’s rather turbulent and chaotic school life. However, the second half takes a more serious turn, showing some really powerful depictions of magic alongside Spica’s internal conflicts and her growing determination. It really makes you realise why you need to read and watch Black Cat and Witch's Classroom if you are a fan of magical school fantasies.

New Cast Members and Character Roles
The latest cast reveal includes some very big names in the industry. Kana Hanazawa is going to play the role of Principal Jeanne, a mysterious woman of unknown age who leads the Royal Diana Academy of Magic and takes Claude under her wing as a student. Then we have Sho Hayami, who will be voicing Vice Principal Justice Libra. He is the father of Astrea Libra and holds a high position at the academy. Lastly, Daisuke Hirakawa has been cast as Professor Procyon, a character who avoids conflict and tries to be flexible with everyone, though he apparently gets stressed out quite easily.

Promotional Events and Radio Program Details
There is a lot of buzz on the ground too. On March 22nd, Nobunaga Shimazaki (who voices Claude Sirius) made a special appearance at Vantelin Dome Nagoya in Aichi. He was there alongside a person in a Spica costume to take on the challenge of throwing the first pitch for the opening game between the Chunichi Dragons and Chiba Lotte Marines. It’s quite a unique way to promote an anime, honestly.
Moreover, a new radio program titled Black Cat and Witch's Classroom School Magic Radio has been announced. It will feature Kaede Hondo (the voice of Spica Vargo) and Shimazaki as the main hosts. The first episode will air on April 11th at 12:00 noon on Onsen, with new episodes coming out every other week. Fans attending AnimeJapan 2026 on March 28th and 29th should also look out for the Good Smile Company booth, where they will be handing out large shoppers and hosting greetings with the Spica mascot.
Black Cat and Witch's Classroom is a fun yet intense magical school fantasy. It follows Spica, an apprentice witch who somehow cannot use magic, and Claude, a genius magician who has been cursed to live as a cat. Their secret master-apprentice relationship is the heart of the show. With the original manga being so popular on Magazine Pocket, it’s easy to see why you need to read and watch Black Cat and Witch's Classroom before the anime premiere. This two-cour run is definitely going to be a wild ride for all the fans out there.
