The Unstoppable Titan of Terror Meets Kawaii
McDonald's U.S. is gearing up for its next big collaboration, and this time, it's a match made in heaven - or hell. The fast food chain is teaming up with Sanrio to bring us the Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal collection, featuring at least eight new toys inspired by Hello Kitty and other popular Sanrio mascots.
On August 10, 2026, McDonald's Senior Marketing Director Guillaume Huin shared a 15-second teaser on X, giving us our first glimpse of the upcoming collection. The brief clip features a Happy Meal placed on a boat in the middle of the ocean, with Hello Kitty emerging from beneath the waves, wearing a headpiece modeled after the classic kaiju.
A First Look at the Collection
The Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal collection introduces a range of new toys, each representing a well-known monster from the Godzilla franchise. Choco cat is modeled after Shin Godzilla, while My Melody dons an eye-catching Mothra suit. Kuromi, on the other hand, is depicted in a Mecha Godzilla outfit, and Keroppi is featured as the infamous three-headed beast, King Ghidorah.
For fans of Japanese culture and the Godzilla franchise, this collection is a dream come true. As Guillaume Huin describes it, the Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal series is one of the "best collections of Happy Meal toys" he has ever seen, and a symbol of his personal appreciation for Japan and its contributions to media and entertainment.
McDonald's new Hello Kitty x Godzilla toy series will become available at participating locations starting August 18, 2026. Don't miss out on this unique collaboration that brings together two beloved franchises in a way you never thought possible.
