Simultaneous Screening: Gundam Flash of Hathaway and Char's Counterattack
Fans of the legendary Mobile Suit Gundam series have something really big to look forward to. The upcoming films, Mobile Suit Gundam: Flash of Hathaway: The Witch of Circe and the classic Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, are all set for a simultaneous screening. This event is happening at 10 selected theaters across the country from March 13th to 15th. It is definitely a limited-time opportunity that no mecha enthusiast should be missing out on. To make things even more exciting, a brand-new mecha art visual has been released to celebrate this joint screening.

A Journey Through the Universal Century Timeline
If we look back, Char's Counterattack first hit the screens in 1988 and it became an instant icon. The story focuses on the final, intense showdown between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable. This battle is very much connected to Hathaway Noa, who is the main lead in the Flash of Light series. The memories of his first love, Quess Paraya, are deeply etched in his heart and they play a massive role in shaping his character and the choices he makes later on. Understanding the depth of these characters is why Mobile Suit Gundam remains such a huge favorite even after so many years.
The new mecha art visuals for this event are handled by the CG director Takayuki Masuo. He has done a great job of reimagining the classic rivalry. The original poster for Char's Counterattack showed the duel between Amuro’s v Gundam and Char’s Sazabi. In this new version, that same energy is captured using the Xi Gundam and the mass-produced v Gundam, which both feature in Flash of Hathaway: The Witch of Circe. It’s a very nice tribute to the older film while highlighting the new one.

Special Events and Stage Greetings
Before the main screenings start, there is also a special stage greeting scheduled for March 12th. This will take place at Marunouchi Piccadilly in Tokyo. The event is mainly to celebrate the release of the Dolby Cinema version of Flash of Light Hathaway: The Witch of Circe. Fans attending will get to see Hiroyuki Sawano, the genius who composed the music, and SennaRin, who provided the beautiful insert song for the movie. Having such talented artists on stage together is quite a rare treat for the community.
Why You Should Watch
- Dual Experience: You get to see the conclusion of the old era and the beginning of the new one at the same time.
- High-Quality Visuals: The Dolby Cinema version promises some of the best animation quality seen in the series so far.
- Emotional Storytelling: The connection between Hathaway, Amuro, and Char adds a lot of weight to the narrative.
Overall, this event is a perfect way to experience the Mobile Suit Gundam legacy. Whether you are a long-time fan or someone new to the Universal Century, seeing these two films back-to-back in a theater will be a totally different experience. The way the stories intertwine across decades shows just how well-written this universe actually is. Don't forget to mark your calendars for March!
