The winners of the 50th Kodansha Manga Award have been decided. The boys' category was awarded to Kei Ura's ``Gachiakuta'', the girls' category was awarded to Ari Shirakawa's ``My return from death at a magic school life, starting with my ex-lover and the prologue (*However, the likability rating was zero)'', and the overall category was awarded to Shun Umezawa's ``Darwin Incident''.
The Award-Winning Manga
``Gachiakuta'' is a battle action game centered around Ludo, an orphan boy born in a slum where the descendants of criminals live. It is being serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) and will be made into a TV anime in 2025. ``The magic school life of returning by death, from the prologue with an ex-lover (*zero likability rating)'' is the story of Oriana, who was attacked by an unknown death and returned to death, and struggles to save her beloved lover, Vincent Tanzain.
Manga Serialization and Adaptations
It is a comic version of the novel, and is currently being serialized in KADOKAWA's Kadokomi and other outlets. ``The Darwin Incident'' is a story about Charlie, a boy who is a hybrid between a human and a chimpanzee. It is being serialized in Monthly Afternoon (Kodansha), and a TV anime was broadcast from January of this year.
Awards and Prizes
Each winner will receive a certificate and a bronze statue. Supplementary prizes of 2 million yen will be given to the boys and girls categories, and 1 million yen will be given to the overall category. The selection committee for the 50th Kodansha Manga Award was Seimaru Amagi, Natsumi Ando, Yuzo Takada, Hikaru Nakamura, Kaoru Hayamine, Hiro Mashima, and Hideyoshi Matsumoto.
