July 27th is "Watermelon Day". The name comes from a play on the words ``na (7), tsutsutsu (2), na (7)'' = ``summer rope,'' referring to the striped pattern on a watermelon as a rope.
In the world of anime, characters with impressive striped patterns often appear.Striped and bordered costumes are trademarks, animal characters with striped fur, and accessories such as hats, ties, and socks are casually incorporated. And the way they are drawn is rich in variety.
