The Inspiration Behind the New Arc
The full-length animated film "THE RIBBON HERO" based on Osamu Tezuka's "Knight of the Ribbon" will be distributed exclusively on Netflix in August 2026. At the same time, a teaser visual and main staff were released.

Staff and Production
The director is Yuki Igarashi, an animator known for the ending video of the first season of "Jujutsu Kaisen." This is Igarashi's first attempt at directing a full-length anime. The original character idea is Kei Mochizuki, who has worked on character designs for works such as "Fate/Grand Order" and "Touken Ranbu ONLINE." Additionally, Mai Yoneyama will be assisting with character design, Kazunari Aragaki will be assisting with animation character design, and Cedric Errol will be working as art director.
The animation will be produced by OUTLINE, led by director Igarashi, and produced by Twin Engine, which attracted attention with ``Super Kaguyahime!'', and depicts the story of a hero who decides to resist a harsh fate with a delicate world view and sophisticated action.
Teaser Visual and Story
The teaser visual drawn by character designer Mochizuki shows the main character, a girl. The impressive large red ribbon is reminiscent of the original ``Knight of the Ribbon''. Furthermore, the catchphrase, ``I don't want to be who someone else wants me to be,'' reveals the conflict and will of a girl who resists the expectations of those around her and struggles to choose who she is. Please wait for further information such as story details to be announced at a later date.
