Gundam SEED FREEDOM At Aomori Nebuta Festival

The Inspiration Behind the New Arc

Gundam IP x regional revitalization "Gundam Festival Project" aims to bring out the charm of the region and make Gundam beloved by the local community by exhibiting Gundam at festivals that are loved by the local community. As the first step, it has been decided that "Gundam SEED Nebuta" from the movie "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM", which was the biggest hit of all time in the Gundam series with box office revenue of 5 billion yen and audience attendance of over 3 million people, will be exhibited at the Aomori Nebuta Festival.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Series

The ``Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series'' refers to ``Mobile Suit Gundam SEED'' ​​(all 50 episodes) broadcast on TV from October 2002 to September 2003, and its sequel ``Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY'' (all 50 episodes) from October 2004 to October 2005. The director is Mitsuo Fukuda, and the character design is by Hisashi Hirai. In addition to traditional Gundam fans, it gained wide support from teenagers and female fans, and became a huge hit.

Then, in January 2024, the movie ``Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM'' was released and became the biggest hit in the history of the Gundam series, with box office revenue of 5 billion yen and audience attendance of 3 million people.

Furthermore, it has been decided that ``Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO'' will be released in theaters. It is a prequel to ``SEED FREEDOM,'' and is based on a scenario written by series composers Chiaki Ryozawa and Shigeru Morita during the planning of ``SEED FREEDOM.'

At ``Gundam SEED Nebuta,'' there will be a front nebuta with motifs of ``Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam'' and ``Infinite Justice Gundam Type 2.'' Furthermore, in addition to developing tie-up products with local confectionery manufacturers in Aomori, a ``Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM'' POP UP SHOP in Aomori Nebuta Festival will also be held.

Along with the release of the event key visual, we have also released newly drawn visuals of the four characters Kira Yamato, Lacus Clyne, Athrun Zala, Cagalli, Yura, and Athha, all dressed in Haneto costumes. Be sure to check out the two impressive Gundam figures created by Nebuta master Hiroo Fukushi at the venue. During the ride, sponsored fans with a newly drawn event key visual will also be distributed.

Furthermore, Aomori Prefecture's long-selling popular product "British Toast" and "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" are collaborating. It has a chocolate banana flavor perfect for the Nebuta Festival, and will be available in two limited edition packages.

Collaboration with the popular chocolate cake "Porro Chocolat". A sweet and sour chocolate cake with apples pickled in syrup from Aomori Prefecture is now available in a limited edition Gundam Festival Project package. One original sticker exclusive to this product is included.
