Analysis: Yuichiro Momose and the Three New Manga Series in Dessert Magazine

There is some really exciting news for all the shoujo and comedy fans out there! Three brand new manga series, all based on the original work by the very talented Yuichiro Momose, have finally made their debut. These series have officially started their journey in the May issue of Dessert magazine by Kodansha, which was released today on March 24th. It is quite a big moment for Momose-sensei's fans, as his unique storytelling is now branching out into several different comedic and romantic directions at once.

The first one on the list is Bagdan *Men should be handled with care by Hinata Hina. This one is actually a reverse comedy and is based on the original work by Momose, who is quite famous for writing the screenplay of the Hypnosis Mic series. The plot is very interesting; it follows a girl named Tokiko who is absolutely obsessed with otome games. Her life takes a wild turn when five incredibly handsome men from the game she loves actually reincarnate into her real-life high school. You can just imagine the chaos that follows!

A Closer Look at the New Comedies and Romances

The second series is titled Vanilla and Orange, illustrated by Amagi Azuki. This is more of a romantic comedy that focuses on Kazuo, a young girl who is a bit too cautious when it comes to love. She works part-time at an ice cream shop where she happens to witness a couple breaking up. Things get awkward when she goes to school and realizes that Azusa, the handsome boy involved in that breakup, is actually the same boy she once dumped herself! Even though she knows she shouldn't be, Kazuo finds herself feeling attracted to him all over again.

  • Bagdan \*Handle with care with these men: A reverse harem comedy where game characters enter the real world.
  • Vanilla and Orange: A sweet and complicated romance about second chances and ice cream shops.
  • The President in Love is Troublesome: A short-form comedy about a student council secretary and her persistent boss.

Lastly, we have Harunagi Rigu's work, Koisuru Chairman wa Troublesome (or The President in Love is Troublesome). This is a short-style comedy that looks at the daily life of Soho, the student council president who is perfect in every way. Then there is Kazu, his cool and collected secretary. Soho is actually madly in love and repeatedly tries to win her over with fierce appeals, but poor Kazu just keeps giving him the cold shoulder. It's a classic battle of persistence versus total indifference.

For those who follow the Hypnosis Mic franchise, seeing Yuichiro Momose's name attached to these new projects is definitely a reason to check them out. Each story offers a different flavor of humor, from magical reincarnation to workplace-style school comedies. It will be really fun to see how these three different series grow in the coming months within the pages of Dessert!
