Naruto's 25th Anniversary Celebrations
Exciting times are ahead for the Naruto franchise as it prepares for major releases owing to the anime's upcoming 25th anniversary, promising fans new content for the first time in years. Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo has confirmed new plans for the anime's 25th anniversary in 2027 in its latest financial report.
The broadcaster is treating the anniversary as the beginning of a new chapter for the franchise, aiming to build global momentum for the series leading up to the milestone. The upcoming projects planned for Naruto include new video content and games developed by new partners, all of which are scheduled to officially release starting in 2027 and beyond.
The Future of Naruto Games
A new Naruto Card Game is scheduled to release in summer 2027 as part of the anniversary push, with its official gameplay trailer and sample cards currently made available to the public. This move comes after a lack of substantial game releases since the 2023 launch of Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, which has prompted the fanbase to revive popular older titles in the series.

Looking ahead, TV Tokyo aims to leverage the popularity of the Naruto IP by expanding into diverse fields that include merchandise, games, stage plays, music festivals, kabuki theater, and overseas theme park areas. The series drove the highest revenue numbers for the company's anime rights business for the fiscal year ending in March 2026 and the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

The continued success of Naruto has also prompted TV Tokyo to map similar commercial strategies for its other top-performing anime IPs, including Bleach and Black Clover, both of which will be broadcasting episodes in 2026.
