Studio Ghibli Expands Ghibli Park with Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Attraction
Decades ago, Hayao Miyazaki's epic science-fiction masterpiece, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, changed the world of anime forever. Now, Studio Ghibli is paying tribute to Nausicaa's legacy with a new, large-scale attraction at Ghibli Park, nestled in the heart of Nagakute City's Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park.
Aichi Prefecture recently announced an upcoming facility that recreates the world of the film, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. As shown in an official concept illustration, the park expansion will include at least one large, indoor facility.
The World of Nausicaa Comes to Life
Ghibli Park allows visitors to explore vast areas that recreate the worlds of various Ghibli features. The new Nausicaa-themed facility will be a significant addition to the park, offering an immersive experience for fans of the film.
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is set 1,000 years after an apocalyptic war and revolves around the eponymous heroine, a young princess whose village is surrounded by a massive toxic forest with gigantic, insectoid guardians known as Ohm.
Hayao Miyazaki initially published Nausicaa as a manga series in Tokuma Shoten's Animage magazine to attract sponsors for the film's production. The same company ultimately teamed up with Studio Top Craft to create Nausicaa's anime adaptation.
