The Isekai Connection
Dragon Ball Super mangaka Toyotarou is back, but not with the continuation of the DBS manga that fans have been hoping for. Instead, he has collaborated with the popular isekai series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, creating exclusive artwork for Season 4.
Toyotarou recently helped celebrate Season 4 of the hit isekai series by penning TenSura-themed artwork for popular Japanese manga news site Comic Natalie. The art depicts Rimuru Tempest in his signature slime form, alongside his close friend and trusted ally Veldora, the legendary Storm Dragon.
The new art was created specifically for Comic Natalie’s ongoing series of features centered around That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4. Toyotarou was asked to draw the two fighting side by side, and the result is a stunning piece of artwork that showcases his signature Dragon Ball Super art style.
Toyotarou's Return to Dragon Ball Super
Even though Toyotarou is drawing characters from another manga, his love for Dragon Ball Super is still evident. The reveal of this art even states he is currently serializing Dragon Ball Super, making his eventual return to the series appear even more likely.
Toyotarou himself has also repeatedly spoken about the manga returning in recent months. Most recently, he responded to a fan on X (formerly Twitter), who said that their 7-year-old son requested Toyotaro-san from Dragon Ball Super to draw more manga. Toyotarou’s simple response, Thank you. I got it, went on to receive 6.5 million views on the platform in a single day.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 and its latest film, Tears of the Azure Sea, are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, the upcoming anime remake, is set to release this fall.
