It was announced that voice actress Wakana Yamazaki passed away on April 18th. She was 61 years old.

This was announced on the official website of Aoni Production, to which Yamazaki belonged. A comment posted on the website reads, "I would like to inform you of my deepest gratitude for the kindness you have shown me during my lifetime." In accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family, the wake and funeral ceremony were held only for close relatives.
A Legacy of Beloved Characters
The official website of the anime "Detective Conan" also posted a message of condolence for Yamazaki, who played the role of Ran Mori for about 30 years, as well as a comment from the original author, Gosho Aoyama. Aoyama said, "I'm so sad that I won't be able to hear that gentle voice that was so comforting and reassuring to my ears that I took it for granted." The role of Mouri Ran will continue to be played by Akemi Okamura, who served as Yamazaki's stand-in during her medical treatment.
Yamazaki was born on March 21st and is from Kanagawa Prefecture. In addition to the role of Ran Mori in the anime "Detective Conan" series, her representative works include the role of Akko in "Secret Akko-chan 3", the role of Akizuki Meiko in "Marmalade Boy," and the role of Mai Ota in "Neighborhood Story."
