Analyzing the Upcoming Season of Dorohedoro
The official website for the anime adaptation of Q Hayashida's Dorohedoro manga recently unveiled the key visual for the second season. This visual, crafted by character designer Tomohiro Kishi, not only features the updated staff for the upcoming season but also announces the premiere date as April 1st. The second season is set to debut at 11:00 p.m. on various platforms, nearly simultaneously worldwide.
While much of the original staff from the first season will return, a notable change for the new season is the appointment of Miho Sugiura as the art director and Itsuku Onishi as the color key artist. Yuichiro Hayashi is set to helm the new season as director, with Tomohiro Kishi returning as the character designer.
Prior to this announcement, the new season was slated for a 2025 release. Viz Media is responsible for publishing the English version of the manga, describing the story as a dark and gritty tale of sorcerers conducting bizarre experiments in a desolate city known as "the Hole." The narrative centers around a man with a reptile head named Caiman and a mysterious girl named Nikaido as they confront the powerful sorcerer En.
The first season of the Dorohedoro anime originally aired in Japan on Netflix in January 2020, consisting of 12 episodes. The global audience was then able to stream the series on Netflix in May of the same year.
The creative team behind the first season included Yuichiro Hayashi as director, Hiroshi Seko as the series scriptwriter, Tomohiro Kishi as the character designer, and [K]NoW_NAME as the music composer.
As fans eagerly anticipate the return of Dorohedoro and the continuation of its dark and twisted narrative, the involvement of key talents like Miho Sugiura and Itsuku Onishi in the new season's production promises an enhanced visual experience that builds upon the success of the first installment.
With the April 1st premiere date fast approaching, followers of the series can look forward to an immersive journey back to the mysterious and treacherous world of Dorohedoro.
