The theatrical animation "Maimai Shinko and the Millennium of Magic," directed by Sunao Katabuchi, known for "In This Corner of the World," will be broadcast on NHK E-Tele from 3:25 p.m. on June 20th.

The Story Behind Maimai Shinko
"Maimai Shinko and the Millennium of Magic," released in 2009, is a full-length animation based on Nobuko Takagi's autobiographical novel. Set in Kokuga, Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in the 1950s, the story depicts the friendship and growth of third-year elementary school student Shinko Aoki and transfer student Kiiko Shimazu from Tokyo.
Production and Cast
Madhouse is in charge of animation production. Mayuko Fukuda played Shinko and Nako Mizusawa played Kiiko. The film explores the themes of childhood, friendship, and the challenges of growing up in a rapidly changing world.
