Kodama Model Gains Momentum on LEGO Ideas
LEGO hobbyist "Klemmplem" unveiled a 20‑centimeter Kodama figure in September 2024, instantly catching the eye of both Ghibli lovers and brick‑building enthusiasts. By late September 2026 the project amassed 9,856 votes, leaving just 144 supporters to cross the coveted 10k threshold.
Staff Pick Recognition Boosts Visibility
Even before hitting the milestone, LEGO’s review team awarded the build a "Staff Pick" in November 2025, a badge reserved for projects that demonstrate exceptional creativity or thematic fidelity. This early endorsement has amplified its reach across social platforms and forums.

While LEGO Ideas hosts a plethora of Spirited Away and Totoro creations, Princess Mononoke receives far fewer submissions. The film’s darker tone and complex ecological themes pose design challenges, making Klemmplem’s Kodama a noteworthy exception.
Story Elements Reflected in Brick Form
The Kodama stand on a miniature branch, surrounded by clear‑plastic moths that appear to flutter. Klemmplem described the piece as a "personal homage to the wonderful world of tree spirits"—a subtle nod to the forest’s vitality that drives the movie’s conflict between humans and nature.
What Lies Ahead for the Project?
With 41 days remaining to hit 10,000 votes, the creator faces a tight deadline. Should the goal be met, LEGO’s product team will evaluate the design for potential mass production, possibly adding a full‑scale Mononoke set to its lineup.
Where to Watch the Film
For those eager to revisit the story while waiting on the bricks, Princess Mononoke streams on HBO Max and Netflix, varying by geographic region. Fans can also explore the original manga and related art books for deeper insight.
