Character Introduction and Director's Comments
The characters of this work were created by Masami Yuuki. "EZY" uses a "casting audition" method in which the characters are designed using visuals of characters that Yuuki has drawn in the past. Director Yutaka Izubuchi commented, ``I cast the characters for Yuuki-san's manga myself. Yuuki-san's drawings have a lot of variation and are easy to move, making them suitable for animation.'' He also said, ``Sato (Takamitsu), who was the animation director for EZY this time, was amazing. He's a nice guy, easy to work with, and he draws Yuuki's character well.''
Character Designs and Voice Acting
Comments from director Izubuchi about the characters have also arrived. Regarding Akihiko Ma, who is in charge of piloting Unit 2, he said, ``I feel a little bit like Captain Goto (of the second platoon in the previous series),'' and said that this atmosphere was created through the performance of Chikahiro Kobayashi, who played the role of Ma. Originally, the character design written by Kazunori Ito, who wrote the screenplay and series composition, was a bit more serious, but the character ended up having a playful side as well. Regarding Saki Hirata, who is in charge of commanding Unit 2, he says, ``She's a so-called ``Rikejo'' with a slightly eccentric side. She's probably the one who's working the hardest on promotion exams and thinking about getting promoted.'' Furthermore, 2nd Platoon Commander Saeki revealed that Megumi Hayashibara's performance in ``Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot'' left an impression on him, so he thought, ``If I were to go with this character, Hayashibara would be the only choice, in my opinion.''
