Mobile Police Patlabor EZY File 1: New Visuals and Theme Song Details Revealed

The latest updates for the upcoming animation Mobile Police Patlabor EZY File 1, part of the legendary Mobile Police Patlabor series, have finally been released. Fans are getting a fresh look at the project with a new key visual, preview videos, and official information regarding the opening and ending theme songs. This new chapter is creating quite a buzz as it prepares to bring the iconic mecha franchise into a modern setting.

The brand new key visual for "File 1" is quite striking, showing the Ingram standing tall and dashing amidst a backdrop of urban buildings. Alongside this, there is an instax-style photo featuring the seven members of the second platoon. In this candid shot, Towa is seen confidently firing a gun, perfectly capturing the catchphrase, "Are these guys even police officers?". Meanwhile, Kippei looks a bit overwhelmed, as if he is being swayed by his girlfriend, and an adult character is seen casually holding a cigarette. Saki is shown mischievously raising her glasses, while Yanai shares a hearty laugh with a folding fan. Captain Saeki watches over them with a gentle smile, and Yakuma rounds out the group with a very charming expression.

Exciting Teasers and Daily Life of the 2nd Platoon

The preview video gives us a glimpse into Towa's daily routine. We see him staring at an Ingram figurine on his desk at the station, looking quite puzzled at a sticker that reads "ALPHONSE". Suddenly, the peace is broken by a siren calling for dispatch. Towa rushes to the scene, shouting, "I've got work!", while Kippei provides backup instructions. The teaser highlights the struggles and dynamic activities of the 2nd Platoon as they handle various labor-related incidents.

Musical Collaborations and Story Synopses

The music for the series also has some interesting connections. The opening theme song, "Reimei Compass," will be performed by Mori Calliope from Hololive English. Interestingly, the song's title was inspired by "Future Lovers," the opening from the Mobile Police Patlabor Early Days OVA. The ending theme, titled "Baton," is by Mariko Nagai. Character designer Masami Yuuki shared an anecdote that Nagai's short-haired look from back in the day actually influenced the image of the original main character, Akira Izumino. You can actually hear a bit of the opening theme in the new preview videos.

We also have some details on the episodes within "File 1":

  • Trend is \#2nd Platoon: A "Snowman Labor" is stolen, and Towa's team is ordered to recover it.
  • Kanchumuariari: Towa writes in his diary about imaginary delusions of being sent to handle a massive incident.
  • Honmono ga Ichiban: A reboot of a special effects historical drama is being filmed, but the director's obsession leads to chaos that the second platoon must manage.

Theatrical Release and Ticket Information

For those looking to watch, Mubichike tickets go on sale from March 27th. Fans can choose between a "Complete Set" for all three chapters or a regular ticket for "File 1." The complete set includes an Ingram Plus art board, while the regular ticket comes with a clear file. A special stage greeting is also planned for April 23rd at Shinjuku Piccadilly, featuring director Yutaka Izubuchi and voice actors Sumire Uesaka and Kikunosuke Toya.

Mobile Police Patlabor EZY will consist of 8 episodes spread across 3 chapters, starting May 15th. Set in the 2030s where AI is changing everything, the 2nd Platoon uses their AV-98Plus Ingram to fight tech-driven crimes. For any fan, this Mobile Police Patlabor revival is definitely something to keep an eye on as it balances nostalgia with a futuristic vision.
