In many ways, Yuji has become the Summer 2022 anime season’s own Shield Hero, but without the baggage.
My Isekai Life is a brand new anime title release in the Summer 2022, and true to its title, this is an isekai fantasy series. That means it faces a lot of competition from the likes of The Rising of the Shield Hero, Overlord and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime in recent years. Overall, some Isekai Life doesn’t compare that well to them, but not all is lost.
The protagonist of My Isekai Life, Yuji in certain way remind us Shield Hero, also fans of the Shield Hero himself, Iwatani Naofumi. In light of how Shield Hero Season 2 turned out, disappointed Shield Hero where fans are trying to compare with My Isekai Life, given the remarkable likeness between Yuji and Naofumi as isekai leads. They do have their differences, and that often works in Yuji’s favor.
How Yuji Follows Naofumi’s Footsteps In My Isekai Life?
Yuji doesn’t do a whole lot to stand out from the crowd like Naofumi as an isekai protagonist, and he lacks the vibrant personalities of characters such as Rimuru and Senku. On the other hand, some isekai fans really do enjoy following the adventures of self- inserts who explore the magic systems of their new worlds, and that’s honest of both Yuji and Naofumi. They’re both kind of relatable and not too fantastic as protagonists, which makes them boring to some anime fans but appealing to others. They’re visionary folk icons who bat their separate worlds, learning new spells and making new comrades and foes along the way in periodical adventures. They also participate a love of fence magic and teamwork.
How Yuji Sets Himself Apart From Naofumi
Yuji and Naofumi are both self push over adventurers with barrier based techniques, but Yuji is still a distinct character, both for better and unacceptable. On the plus side, isekai fans may enjoy starting fresh content and a brand-new character like Yuji, who has none of the awkward or even controversial from Naofumi. Anime fans might find it tiring to watch the adventures of a hero surrounded by all that controversy, like slave trade to his use of hurtful language and the messy in situation are false accusations made against him. Yuji may be a bit boring, It makes for a nice change of pace for anime fans who just want a relaxing escapism anime to lose themselves in.
Like Naofumi, Yuji is a dryly funny and somewhat relatable isekai hero, but without any of the cool and memorable action scene. He needs to change that, and soon.
